DECEMBER 09
Two exhibitions that I curated recently opened:
Out of the Box: Photography Portfolios from the Permanent Collection for the
DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum (October 24, 2009 – October 2010) and the
2009 Leopold Godowsky Jr. Color

SEPTEMBER 09
My essay and interview on and with Nate Larson and Marni Shindelman appeared in the Fall 2009 issue of the journal of the
Society of Photographic Education,
exposure.

JUNE 09
After serving close to eight years as curator of the Photographic Resource Center, I am delighted to announce that I will begin
the Ph.D. program in art history at Boston University in fall 2009 as a full-time student. I will focus on the history of
photography.

MAY 09
I was an invited curator for New Art Collective 2009, a summer biennial featuring contemporary artists selected by a small
group of Boston area curators, shown at Montserrat College of Art Gallery. I selected Deb Todd Wheeler to show her work in
the show,
Salt of the Earth. It runs June 5 through July 24. Thanks Deb, Leonie, and Shana!

APRIL 09
I am curating an exhibition for the DeCordova Museum of Art and Sculpture Park showcasing their fine photography collection
to debut in fall 2009. I am also helping to organize a mid-career retrospective of Dan Ranalli's work for the Provincetown Art
Museum in winter 2010.

Bruce and I attended SPE In Dallas. I will be also traveling to the University of Plymouth in the UK to give a paper for their
conference, "Repeats & Returns: Framing Time and Place in Photography," in April.

OCTOBER 08
My landscape exhibition,
New England Survey, traveled to the Fruitlands Museum and will be on display until December 21st.

JUNE 08
I have been asked to be a proposal reviewer for the Society of Photographic Education's national conference. I will also be
teaching a course, "Contemporary Trends," at RISD this coming fall.

MAY 08
I will be reviewing for the Cambridge Art Association in May and the Artist's Professional Toolbox program in June. I will also
be a visiting guest for RISD's grad photo department in April and AIB's senior critiques in May.

APRIL 08
Mark Feeney, resident art, photo, and culture critic at the
Boston Globe, won the Pultizer Prize in Criticism! I am honored to
report that one of the 10 stories with which Mark was nominated and won was his review for the PRC exhibition
Picture
Show

MARCH 08
I went to Fotofest and SPE in March, whew! See the pics here.

FERBRUARY 08
Picture Show won an award from the New England chapter of AICA (Association Internationale des Critiques d'art, the
International Association of Art Critics). In the category of “Best Show in a University or College Gallery,"
Picture Show took
second place. See the pics of the ceremony here. We were also featured on the audiocast Bad at Sports.

JANUARY 08
The PRC's 2007 Boston Cybearts offering was featured in the
Boston Phoenix's 2007 Art in Review. I am proud to report that
the good art folks there counted Picture Show among the best of 2007! Read my blog post on this fun show I curated, along
with the verbage here.

Lissa Rivera - a past NEO online as well as PRC intern - was chosen as the Massachusetts artist to show in Women to
Watch at the National Museum of Woment in the Arts in D.C. I was thrilled to be asked to nominate the Massachusetts artists
and that Lissa was chosen for this honor. Currently, she has work showing at Gallery Kayafas.

NOVEMBER 07
In November, I was a visiting artist at Montserrat College of Art. I gave a talk on the PRC exhibition AD | AGENCY, spoke in a
senior seminar, and visited the student's studios. What a wonderful gallery and school!

OCTOBER 07
I was interviewed about Claire Beckett's work for a story on Boston's NPR station, WBUR. I showed Claire's work in the PRC
exhibition DOCUMENT. Listen to it here.

AUGUST 07
Greg Cook wrote a most excellent article on Neil Salley and le Musée Patamécanique that ran recently in the
Boston Globe. I
spoke with Greg about le Musée and he quoted me. Read it here and go visit the museum!

JULY 07
The PRC's Exposure exhibition, juried by Jen Bekman, was featured on Flak Photo in July and Northeast Exposure Online
(NEO) is suggested reading. Thanks Andy!

APRIL 07
In April, I was a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida in Portland, Oregon and also reviewed for their competition Critical Mass.
Portfolios from Critical Mass's top
50 artists are now posted online.

IN OTHER NEWS:

The biggest news is that my fiance Bruce Myren graduated in May 2009 with his MFA from the the University of Connecticut.
Congrats Bruce!
He is now teaching at the New England Institute of Art and RISD.
